The Parish Council are concerned that the PALS Clothing Bank skip, which is situated on Church Street, at the entrance to the Commercial Hotel Car Park, is being used as a dumping ground for general waste. In recent months TVs and cookers have been dumped alongside the skip. This is NOT an official waste dump. It was only ever intended as a donation point for clothing and shoes but our enquiries reveal that the company or charity which placed it there do not appear to be trading any more, as we have tried contacting them to remove or empty it without success. Therefore, it is probable that it will not be emptied in future (it is full at the moment) and we request that if you have large items for recycling you take them to the Local Authority recycling points at Duckmanton or Chesterfield, or use your maroon bins for smaller items. It is worth pointing out that the location of the skip is covered by the Church Street/Bridge Street CCTV cameras. If items continue to be dumped there, the Council will review the footage and if we can identify persons responsible we will report the matter to North East Derbyshire District Council for them to investigate and prosecute if necessary. Dumping of waste is fly-tipping and fly-tipping is a criminal offence. Please act responsibly!
