Council Meeting

Council gives its Support to Armed Forces

The Armed Forces Covenant

The Armed Forces Covenant is an enduring covenant between the people of the United Kingdom, Her Majesty's Government and all those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces of the Crown and their families.

At its meeting on 3rd February the Parish Council committed itself to honour the Armed Forces Covenant and to support the Armed Forces Community. To this end the Parish Council will endeavour in its business dealings to uphold the key principles of the Armed Forces Covenant, which are:-

* no member of the Armed Forces Community should face disadvantage in the provision of public and commercial services compared to any other citizen

* in some circumstances special treatment may be appropriate especially for the injured or bereaved.

The Parish Council has asked Councillor Geoff McNeice to be the Pilsley Armed Forces Champion to raise awareness of the Armed Forces Covenant and signpost the Armed Forces community when needing advice and guidance.

A copy of the Armed Forces Covenant signed by the Chairman of the Council is attached.
