Sports Pavilion Open Day

On Saturday 13th April 2019 members of the public will have the opportunity to have a look around Pilsley's new sports pavilion when it will be open for inspection between 10.30am to 12.30pm.

The Parish Council and Pilsley Sports Association, which has been established to run the pavilion, hope that as many members of the public as possible will take the chance to see it.

Sports Pavilion – Soon Up and Running

Our new sports pavilion is less than two weeks away from being completed and handed over to the Parish Council.

Cyril Leason & The Hardwick Road Race

On Saturday 23rd March at 10.00 am Pilsley will honour Cyril Leason, one of its favourite sons, when a plaque which marks his outstanding achievement in organising the Hardwick Hall Road Race from 1981 to 2013 will be unveiled.

The unveiling ceremony will take place in the Five Pits Trail car park on Hardstoft Road which has been chosen by Cyril as it adjoins the site of his former home.

The Parish Council was very sorry to hear the news that Pilsley Bowls Club, at its annual general meeting, had taken the decision to close down.

The Club's Chairman, Jonathan Hayes telephoned the Parish Council Chairman and the Parish Clerk to give them the news and to explain the reason for the Club's decision, which is basically that with its declining membership it is not financially viable to continue.... Read More »

Thanks to a personal intervention from a member of the House of Lords, Pilsley Parish Council has been offered a grant of £40,000 by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) towards the costs of its new sports pavilion, which is presently in the course of erection and expected to be completed by around February 2019.

Good Progress at New Pavilion

Good Progress at New Pavilion

Good progress is being made on the construction of the new sports pavilion, with the majority of the external and internal walls now up at roof level.

We expect the roof to be fitted in the next two weeks and that the structure will soon be weather-proof to allow the start of the internal fit-out.

Public Meeting - Operation of New Sports Pavilion

A public meeting is to be held on Thursday 15th November at 6.30pm in the Village Hall on Pear Tree Road to consider the management & operation of the new sports pavilion.

The Parish Council has issued documentation this week seeking tenders for the replacement of our old sports pavilion at the Miners' Welfare Sports Ground in the village. (The picture shows the old pavilion)
